How to Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena
Prayers are an important part of all religions. All religions have different ways of prayers. Christianity is not different in this aspect. There are many different ways that Christians can pray to God. Some prayers were told to the followers directly by Lord Jesus while others were given to us through Saints who were told about these prayers through apparition of Jesus Christ. What Do You Need?
You don’t need any specific accessory to pray this Novena. You can pray it on your fingers however traditionally people have been using normal rosary beads for these prayers. If you want to get fancy, then you can use a specific rosary dedicated to it: the divine Mercy chaplet.
STEP 1: Sign of the Cross

After making the cross, you can also say any optional prayer that you like. Mostly these prayers are related to mercy. After that you have to say the following prayer “O Blood & Water, which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you”. You have to repeat this three times in the novena.
STEP 3: Start With Three Formal Prayers

Then on the first Our Father Bead say the Eternal Father prayer. The Eternal Father prayer goes like following:
“Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Thy dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.”
STEP 5: The Sorrowful Passion Prayer
Once you have completed the Eternal Father prayer, you can move forward to the ten Hail Mary beads and pray the following words:
“For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
REPEAT STEPS 4 and 5 for all the 5 decades
STEP 6: Say The Holy God Prayer
You have to then pray the Holy God prayer three times. The Holy God prayer goes like following;
“Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
STEP 7: Ending Prayers
At the end, like all other novenas, you have to make an ending prayer. The ending prayer for Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena goes like following;
“Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.”
REMEMBER: It is not Just a Novena
The Divine Mercy chaplet isn’t just a novena. It can be prayed anytime you want as an individual prayer however praying it as a novena is ideal as Saint Faustina was specifically told by the apparition of Lord Jesus that it should be prayed as a novena. Praying this novena can not only help you bring calm and comfort in your life but it can also be refreshing to your soul. It can help God become more merciful towards your soul and also help you become more merciful to people around you.
